VODIA
Background:
VODIA was a project that I have done as a part of my master thesis for Volvo Penta. My task was to investigate how a PC based UI of the Volvo Penta engine diagnostic tool (VODIA) could be designed. This was needed because Volvo Penta recognised the need from their customers for such a tool and because the current tool suffered from many usability issues and some physical constraints.

What I did:
My goal with this project was to show that I am able to work in any part of the software design process, from initiation and conceptual phase to the programming and usability tests. I conducted the user requirements research, developed the initial prototype and in the end presented a complete interaction- and GUI definition. The project ended with an evaluation of the C# based prototype trough user tests. During the course of the project I combined elements of Goal Directed Design (Alan Cooper et al.) and Rational Unified Process (RUP)
The final result was a report and a set of UI components and recommendations that can be used for the future reference and development.
