Implementing User Centred Design Methodologies
Background:
Implementing User Centred Design methodologies in the work process of Newmad Technologies AB.
Project done as a part of “User Centred Design” course during MA studies. Newmad Technologies agreed that we could take a look at their
software developement process and suggest improvements. Questions asked: - Where
in the strongly technology driven software development process of Newmad Technologies
can UCD activities be implemented to give significant value for the end product?
- Which UCD activities can be used in a situation where development is strongly
driven and pressured by short delivery times?
- How can an customer awareness and desire for UCD be created and promoted?
Requirements:
- Time-effective changes
- No extensive changes that demand long time to implement
- Methodology that has the support of stakeholders
Project results:
- Establish acceptance for UCD trough workshops with stakeholders.
(Including Collaborative design workshops)
- Field studies/observation for better understanding of the context of use for the desired product
- Questionnaires
This project gave me an insight in problems that companies encounter in the world where constraints take form of not only poor understanding of UCD and
usability issues in general but also where time and money are the main obstacle for obtaining optimal products.
